KELLY ALFONSO JOLLY, Hair Stylist, IATSE Local 798


Where did you grow up?

I am from Trinidad and Tobago. I was born and breed in my homeland and moved the New York in my teens.


What are your responsibilities or roles in your department? Apart from being a Hairstylist for Film and TV. I work full time on Broadway/Live theater on Disney's " Aladdin". I also am the (EDI) Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity Ambassador on Aladdin . My role in the Hair and Makeup includes essentially styling and executing the female ensemble track which includes quick changes, wig changes etc. In addition, to running the Prinicipal tracks.


Are there any films that inspired you to start

working in television and film?

I love Horror films. I have fond memories of watching John carpenters' vampires ' Nosferatu and Frankenstein(1931) with my father. Anything with zombies, gore with

hair and makeup I love.

What has been your favorite project to work on?

Favorite project to work on is Walking Dead. Currently filming


What made you want to work in your department?

My supervisor pushed me to be the best I physically and mentally can. She groomed

me beyond my limits in Hair and Makeup


What advice would you give someone starting out in this industry? Let your work be your calling card! Be humble and always use every opportunity to learn something new; at the same time being respectful and grateful to be in any Hair and Makeup room you step into.


What are you working on these days?

Apart from working on Broadway and on set.

I started my own podcast called Center Stage

Beauty Podcast, which provides a forum where knowledge and success stories can be discussed. The mission of Center Stage Beauty is to provide a place where a guarded Industry can meet with underrepresented

communities and individuals.
