Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Germany. My Mom is from Humacau, Puerto Rico and my Dad is from Portsmouth, VA.
What are your responsibilities or roles in your department? I am the Department Head of Costumes, also known as the Costume Designer.
How did you begin working in the industry? I was recommended. I've been in fashion for almost 20 years now. Tv and film was new to Atlanta and I was very lucky. I worked as an Assistant Costume Designer and Buyer, then worked my way up. Hard work and determination along with a meek and humble energy to get things done.
Are there any films that inspired you to start
working in television and film?
What's love got to do with it, Imitation of Life, Mahogany , West side Story, Grease and Clueless.
What has been your favorite project to work on?
DC Comics Black Lightning. I love designing Superheroes and Villains!
What made you want to work in your department?
God showed me that nothing could stop me. He showed me that Costume Design is a story telling position and I can produce a story through my design.
What advice would you give someone
starting out in this industry? Be a rockstar and work your ass off! As an Afro-Latina Costume Designer and a woman you have to be the best. Excellence always!
